Having been raised in a Christian home, I gave my life to Jesus at a very young age. But as a teen, I wasn't always the best Christian I could be. I made some mistakes that I regret (I think we’ve all been there, if we’re being honest). But after I rededicated my life to the Lord, I put the past behind me and determined to live my life fully for the Lord
Over the years, the enemy, that old devil, would try to throw my past up in my face. But I recognized him for the sly fox he is, and would ignore him. Did you know if you resist the devil, he has to flee? (James 4:7)
In January 2019, I was getting ready for a co-write with my friend Gene Ezell. I had been thinking about how the enemy tries to bring up my past, but Jesus only sees the cross. I brought the idea to Gene and he said, let’s write it!
The first verse & chorus says:
When I hear the voices bringing up my past mistakes
And the lies they’re whispering in my ear
I always look to Jesus, the author of my faith
He steps in and takes away my doubts and fears, and….
Jesus points to the cross
To the place where He gave His all
He points to Calvary’s hill
To the day He answered the call
Because of His blood I’ve been cleansed
I’m not the same as I was
When the enemy points to my sin
Jesus points to the cross
Wow, what a wonderful thought! After we give our lives fully to Jesus, He no longer sees our sin, He no longer sees our past mistakes…. why? Because His blood washes them away and they’re buried in the sea of forgetfulness.... forever! And for that I’m SO thankful!
The second verse says:
Everyday I’m thankful that a plan was put in place
For Him to come and save someone like me
Now every time I need Him, I call upon His name
And He stands before the throne to intercede!
Hallelujah I’ve been forgiven! And my name is written in Heaven!!
When the enemy points to my sin, JESUS points to the cross!
I’d like to thank Gene for writing this song with me and 2nd Chance Ministries for believing in our song, recording it, and using it for the glory of God!
Until next time...God bless,
